So, kids, the house needs a little bit of work.....

Let me set the record straight right away.
This is not my first rodeo.
I am really, really good at painting rooms.
I know my way around a power drill and I
can spackle with the best of them.
My Gramps used to always say, "It ain't bragging if it's the truth."
So, I ain't bragging, people. Just keeping it real.
I am not afraid of a little DIY.

But this darling house in Shamong, NJ???
The one that has a gorgeous lake within walking distance??

This cute homestead with the fabulous hardwood floors?
and the Norman Rockwell-esque brick fireplace?

and the heavenly yard lush with trees and flowers?

She is in a fixer upper category all her own-
in a "but she has a great personality" kind of way.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this house!
I truly do.

But,
there is not a single room in this casa that has not needed TLC.
Honestly, I am not exaggerating (for once!).
Wait, I take that back.
There is one room- make that 2 rooms.
The hallway closets have been 100% hale and hardy.
They have required absolutely nothing from me and, for that
we will be forever friends.

As for the rest of the rooms (including even you, basement -I mean, really!),
we have written so many checks to Lowes, we should get
a designated parking spot.
I really don't think that is asking too much.
When the cashier and I are on a first name basis, I think
it is only good manners to throw in a perk or two.

We have painted every...single...room...downstairs.

We have switched out every..single..faucet.
We have patched 4 holes in the ceiling.
We have changed every doorknob, light switch plate, outlet plate, and cabinet handle.

We switched out the Star Trek light fixtures for something a bit more Texas.

And it is beginning to feel like home.
Home in a "I never want to leave this room" kind of way.
Home in a "this feels so McFarland" kind of way.
I ain't bragging, I'm just saying, I really love this house.
